A bit about me

Hello and welcome, I'm Estelle, let me tell you a little about myself.

​

Before Covid, I worked as HR Manager in a large secondary school where I was responsible for giving strategic vision and leadership for all the HR management functions. Covid lockdowns gave me the opportunity to re-evaluate things and take stock. I realised that I could use my skills and experience working from home, supporting small businesses / entrepreneurs with the admin tasks that bog them down, freeing them to use their skills and talents doing what they love and to grow their businesses. A win, win situation …. and so, Chew Valley VA was born.

Friends and colleagues would tell you that I'm the 'go to' person if you want to get something done! I am well organised, proactive, professional, trustworthy, confidential, calm, adaptable, efficient with a good sense of humour. 

 

Although my specialism is HR supporting, small businesses, and HR Professionals with all aspects of HR admin and processes, I have a wealth of experience across all areas of administration and research projects.

On a personal basis one of the things I love is motorcycling! There's nothing like riding down to the coast, or through the countryside, on a beautiful sunny day, with friends, enjoying the scenery and stopping for a bite to eat along the way. In summer 2022, after many delays, our planned motorbiking holiday touring Spain finally went ahead in the hottest temperatures Spain had experienced! I also love walking the dog, anything to do with animals, wildlife and nature.  Antiques and restoration is something I've become interested in and plan to learn more about.

Funny, since moving to the country and seeing so much wildlife on your doorstep changes your perspective on things as well as giving me the opportunity to start Chew Valley VA. I’m fortunate to see deer out of my office window and badgers, foxes, and rabbits in the fields all around, and lots of different birds I’ve not seen in the town. Seeing lambs playing in the field and the calves on the farm over the road, made me question eating meat. Then I watched an interesting documentary about being vegan and I stopped eating meat and dairy and moved to a plant-based diet from then on. That was just the beginning. Being vegan is so much more than food and I'm learning all the time but that's another story.

Becoming vegan together with all the environmental issues we’re facing, seeing the coral reefs dying, the plastics in the sea, the poles melting, rain forests destroyed, wildlife losing their habitats and animals becoming extinct all in the name of progress is heart breaking and has made me much more aware and focussed on the small things I can do to help stop this; from recycling to not using harmful products and chemicals, rewilding the garden, repurposing things and not buying new where possible.

  • All the benefits of a professional assistant without any of the overheads; no holiday or sick pay, no pension or NI contributions, no training, office space or equipment and no paid coffee breaks.

  • If you need something done urgently, even over a weekend or evening, just get in touch and I'll do my best.

  • Cost effective; as part of my commitment to you, to help you best manage your budget, I monitor your hours and I'll let you know if you're regularly using over, or under, your package and would benefit from moving up or down. 

  • Unused hours can  be carried over to the following month on the Professional and Professional Plus plans.

  • A freebie; as a thank you for your commitment to a regular monthly package of 20 hours or more, 1 x 15 minute task per month is free.
